                                        New York Themed Hen Cake
This cake was so much fun to make and I can't wait for you to see the pictures!! A friend of mine asked me if I could make her friend a cake for her hen party.  She told me that she was to get married in New York and if I could theme a cake around New york. I said yes and gave it a go.  I started to think about what New york was famous for "The sky Line" and "yellow taxi cabs I thought. So I got to work and looked up on the Internet. Everything on this cake is edible which I love!! The girl I made out of sugar paste and tried to get her to look as much like the bride as I could but also keeping with my cartoon character figures.  I hope you like " Have a nice day now!! :)

Childrens Country Bedroom's

There is something incredibly cosy about a childs country style bedroom. Maybe its because it reminds me of the sort of bedroom you would imagine a child would have in a fairy story.
This beautiful ivory girls room is simple yet pretty & appealing with the delicate floral design adding some interest to the room.

The day bed in this bedroom provides a perfect space for sitting quietly with a book or chatting & playing with friends. I love the gorgeous quilt & the varied scatter cushions make it a cosy space as a bed or sofa. The pale green dresser adds some more colour & interest to the room. Its a fun play with different colours & fabrics.

Celebrity Homes - David Klienberg

Interior Designer, David Klienberg

New York City Interior designer David Kleinberg opened the doors to his Manhatten Apartment to Architectural Digest Magazine.

Kleinberg is known for his luxurious yet uncluttered rooms & his own apartment is no different, his home oozes luxury.

He has retained the 1920's style arhitecture of the building & has mixed traditional & contemporary interiors for an elegant & polished look. The 1937 light fixture is by Swiss architect Max Ernst Haefeli.
I love the comfortable seating area he has designed by the large built in bookcase. A great place to sit with your legs tucked up browsing some books, coffee in hand. For a more formal read he has paired a beautifully upholstered wing chair with a stunning italian directorie table.

The dining room has a very eastern theme to it with its lacquered chinoiserie panels & silk curtians. Its a very exotic & rich feeling space.

The kitchen’s stainless-steel cabinets & marble counter tops  bring a much more contemporary vibe to the apartment. Check out the interesting candelabra .

Mirrors make the dinning area give the illusion of more space. The Saarinen table is by Knoll

Kleinberg’s bed has been custom made & covered with cosy looking cream bedlinen. He has incorporated a seating area with a small sofa & chair nestled around a 3 tier coffee table. Id love to have room for a seating area in the bedroom wouldnt you. The moroccan style rug here is totally gorgeous.

The Striped marble in the bathrroom looks stunning against the white cabinetry. Its very fresh & calm feeling. The cute 1930's chair is by Jean-Charles Moreux.

UTILITY ROOMS- MY TOP DECORATING TIPS

Sick of the sight of your washing machine? Why not get the kids to help decorate it with removable stickers? It will add instant colour to a dull space and look great at the same time. I love the red spray of flowers added to the silver washing machine, and i'm sure there are other patterns you could choose from.  Have a look at www.designersguild.co.uk for other stickers for ideas.

Pretty country laundry rooms. Make the most of a small space with a country style sink, and built-in shelving for cleaning products. Floral pictures and tongue-and-groove panelling keep the look pretty.  Either keep it white or make it a pretty vintage pink with shabby chic bottles and beautiful jugs.  Old fashion taps would complete the whole look creating a wonderful atmosphere to be in when doing the laundry - enjoy enjoy!!

Inject some colour into your laundry room like pink by choosing one tone and picking out complimentary accessories - this pretty pink shade isn't too over whelming thanks to the deep raspberry towels and a floral ironing board.  Whether it be towels blankets throws or linen, they'll look totally gorgeous by colour coordinating them throughout the unit.  Baskets and boxes can be used to hideaway all those bottles and sprays.  I love love love the ironing board cover, it's so lush and works lovely with the rest of the room you just wouldn't want to hide it away would you.  Display and show how proud you are of your special utility area!!!

Get organised in your utility room, especially if space is tight. Fit shelves above the sink for storing vases and keep taller flower buckets in the cupboards underneath.  Utility rooms don't have to be dull. Add interest with a bright blind in a graphic print. The blind fabric is Connections in Chilli, John Lewis.

Go for an all-purpose storage unit where you can if free standing. When it comes to housing a utility room sink, a large open storage unit is ideal. With extra worktop space, hidden storage and shelves, you'll have plenty of room to get your jobs done, all the while keep your cleaning products and laundry essentials close by. A great look for all those stunning accessories near by and on display.  The tap is a fav of mine too, that's on my list of items to get eventually for my kitchen.  Especially good for utility rooms as once pulled out you can move the tap around to suit you instead of  having the awkwardness of squeezing it in the bowl to get the water.  Have a good look in Ikea is my best advice.  www.ikea.co.uk

Anodised aluminium shelves are great for storing laundry products. Make them unique by personalising them with paint.

FRIENDS FEATURE FRIDAY WITH KATIE DALY

Its my great pleasure to introduce one of my bestest friends, the very gorgeous & lovely Katie (Aka Kitty Kat to me)for todays Friends Feature Friday....

Firstly I will introduce myself, my name is Katie Daly, I am 28 years old, married to my husband Joseph & am a mother to two gawgess, shabby chic children called Amelie & Bobbey who are 6 & 1. I have been running a wedding chair cover business for 4 years now and my service is aimed primarily at Weddings, but also includes Parties, Birthdays, Conferences, and any other Special Events that may require that elegant finishing touch.
In the year 2006, my husband and I were married at a beautiful Venue, that needed that extra special lift,  I decided that getting chair covers would make a huge difference, and they just lifted the room and made it so light and elegant. The only thing is every where I searched the prices and quality of the covers were not great. Luckily I have a wonderful mum who is very patient and very good with a sewing machine, so we went on to make my very own chair covers, all 110 of them and they looked stunning.

Ever since my wedding all my friends and family were asking to borrow my covers for their weddings and basically this is how I got into the business. I understand how important it is to every bride and groom to have the perfect looking venue, using good quality products and at good prices. I put my heart into every individual occasion and just absolutely love setting the venues up myself with the help of my sisters for the bigger weddings/party's.

Since my wedding I have purchased three more sets of covers, there are Spandex, Cotton Fitted Covers and Luxury Satin Covers. If you have a venue that has very large or unusual sized chairs the Spandex and Satin Covers would most probably be a better fit. The Spandex Covers are very stretchy and stretch over most arm-less chairs, and the Satin Covers are pulled and tied at the back to fit unusual shaped chairs.

After visiting a vintage wedding fair this year I decided to expand my business into the hire of vintage pieces. I have been collecting vintage china tea sets & shabby chic wonders from quaint little boutique shops all over now & have everything from beautiful tiered cake stands, to tea - pots & silver cutlery, buntings to shabby chic birdcages & vintage glassware & much more.

I have fallen so in love with all thats vintage I have also recently set up another business Shabby Chic Vintage Tea Parties. My dream is for everyone to be able to enjoy the charm & style of an afternoon tea in the comfort of their very own home, place of business, or venue of their choice. It is my priority to ensure my customers receive an exceptional, reliable service which exceeds all of their expectations & in turn, create a wonderful & unique experience that my guests will be talking about in years to come.

I look forward to popping in each month & sharing photos from events I have styled & with tips & advice to help inspire you
 KATIE x x

bold bright & white

I love the fun vibe of this modern ecclectic living room. (Im not to sure about the bike being inside) but the room itself packs a punch with colour against the crisp white walls. I would have liked to see a bit more of the brickwork to the right hand side of the image. Feature brickwork walls look stunning against bright white walls its a style that really works for me in the same way wood beams against white do. The contrast is beautiful.

Tropic-inspired living room | Bright living room | Living room design | Image | Housetohome

These bright, jungle foliage furniture pieces certainly give this white room the wow factor. The vibrant electrifying colours make this space fun & quirky.
Patterned bedroom | Eclectic bedroom idea | Cushions | Image | Housetohome
The brave choice of clashing patterns & brights really works here against the bright white walls. They have stuck to a theme of mainly florals with a very vintage feel. Its a very ecclectic style that plays on a twist of vintage & contemporary.

It's all white with the best all white kitchens

Nothing is more chic than white interiors, and I've come up with an array of themed white kitchens. From minimal kitchens to country kitchens, here’s how to add personality to all-white.  An all-white kitchen can be brightened up with subtle pops of colour. Crockery and accessories in bold lime green or hot pink will inject some life into the room without spoiling the overall theme.  Love the white shelves, I have some like that in my kitchen and I display my favourite pieces for people to see.

If you want to go all-out with all-white, the minimal look is your best option. Clean and sleek, this kitchen positively glistens, while pink flowers on a table add some character. I love the blue and white stencil for an effective background display of jugs and plates, just brilliant!.  Just goes to show how effective by adding block colours or items sets of the whole theme of the room.  Place some bright pieces of fruit in bowls or arrange them on the work tops so they set of a great contrast.

A piercing shade of lemon is used with restraint on the kitchen stools to bring dazzling sunshine into a room without it hurting the eyes. The combination with white and blonde wood is fresh and clean.  Letting lots of light into the kitchen will bounce off the white interior opening the illusion of space if needed.

Pastel shades of pink and yellow can look modern when used with plenty of crisp white. I wouldn't go too overboard as the simplicity would disappear. Alot of people seem to be going away from cupboard units and are having the freestanding units and centre island with built in storage and drawer space.  I like the idea above of sitting at the worktop space and being able to socialize and eat at the same time. Im a big fan of white and this a great idea.

The white wooden cupboards make it a very modern yet homely kitchen design I feel. If you love cooking and accessories then why not have them out to display with proudness for everyone to see. They'll look gorgeous whatever colour they are against the blank canvas behind.  A bit of your personal character put into your kitchen is what makes it a great place to be in, to be around , and to change around as much as you like.  Maybe one season colour coded and the next with bold patterns and shapes.  The world is your oyster with a white kitchen so enjoy whatever you do with it...and dont forget to love it!!!

Designers Showcase Texas Home

Some fabulous designers brought their ideas & creativity together for their own individually designed rooms for the 2011 ASID Texas Gulf Coast Chapter Showcase Home located in Sienna Plantation. The theme was Texas Hill Country & the designs brought together were completely stunning. The builder for the multi-faceted project was Shawn Regan, owner of Regan Custom Homes.

The veranda here was designed by Leslie Hassler, Allied Member ASID
I love the way there is a comfortable area to cosy down & watch telly at the end of a day bbq-ing & dipping in the pool. What a wonderful space.

The dining room certainly sets the stage for a Texas Hill Country Experience. It feels like a scene from a country & western film. What do you think of the gorgeous light fitting?
Design by Hallie Radcliffe-Canalli, ASID

The beautiful mix of colours in the flooring of this kitchen design is simply beautiful, its a fantastic feature & I love how well the colours from the floor blend into the rest of the room from the seating to the cabinetry & the walls, it all ties in perfectly. Design by Sharon Staley, FASID

The second floor powder room has a classic & elegant feel with a soft neautral colour pallette its perfectly in tune with the Texas country theme & I love the mirror with the cow hide print in the frame a clever finishing touch.
Design by Nicole Ramirez, Alllied Member ASID

Love love love the fur throw on the bed in the bedroom 3 design its so inviting. The carpet/rug is a bit too busy for my liking but its bang on for the right texas country feel. I would have liked to see an animal print rug here instead I think for a more modern twist on things it would have worked perfectly. Its an over all great design.
Design by Keron Weathered, Allied Member ASID

Happy Weekend to you all, hope you have time to stop by Monday for 'Jo's Fabulous Finds' with my gorgeous friend Jo Sizer.
